Your questions answered

How long does the therapy take?
Most issues can be resolved with between 3-8 sessions, depending on the problem.

How do I become hypnotised?
You will be talked through a process of gradual physical relaxation and then asked to imagine a series of pleasant visualisations. Contrary to popular belief, you are always conscious and aware of your surroundings.

What is does it feel like being hypnotised?
Most people say that hypnosis is extremely relaxing and pleasant state from which you emerge feeling refreshed and energised.

What are ‘suggestions’?
Hypnotic suggestions are just the thoughts and ideas that are put to you when you are under hypnosis that will help you to change the way you think and behave.

Will I lose control or give away any secrets?
A common misconception is that the hypnotist is controlling you. In fact the therapist acts only as a facilitator, to help you help yourself. You are always entirely in control and will never say or do anything that you do not want to.

Can I get stuck in hypnosis?
You can come out of hypnosis any time you like, in the same way that you rouse yourself from a day dream.

What if I can’t be hypnotised?
Everybody responds differently to hypnosis and for many it takes practice, like meditation. Relatively few people do not respond at all. The most important things are that you feel comfortable and relaxed with the therapist, that you leave your mind open to what you are experiencing and that you really want to resolve your problem.
